Clueless Style Analysis: The Psychology & Sociology of Fashion Within Social Identity
In this video, I will be doing a fashion in film analysis on the film Clueless of 1995 that is loosely adapted from Jane Austen’s novel of 1815 titled Emma. The film is centered around a girl named Cher and her social group. The film has become highly recognized and loved for it’s nineties style that has been considered to be timeless and often referenced even now as it is considered to be one of the best teen films of all time through it’s humor, relatability, overall visuals, and fashion.
I’ll be breaking down the context of fashion in this decade with the impact of this film’s fashion along with the concepts of social groups, identity formation, consumer behaviors, and theories of psychology or sociology in relation to the storylines of the film.
